HomeAway Rentals To Be Listed on Expedia
Nearly a year after the partnership was announced, Expedia and HomeAway yesterday announced the distribution of over 115,000 vacation rental listings on the Expedia.com site.
HomeAway made the announcement at the RezFest vacation rental technology and networking conference in Nashville.
Rental owners and managers using the pay-per-booking model with eligible listings* will automatically enrolled in to the ‘Expanded Distribution Network’ – those wishing to opt-out need to contact customer services. Bookings will only be subject to HomeAway’s own 10% commission plus credit card processing surcharge. Bookings will be received in the normal manner with the Channel Source listed as ‘Expedia’.
*Eligible Listings -‘An eligible listing is a pay-per-booking listing whose account is not flagged for non-fair market participation or overdue on commission payments’. Subscription-based listings are expected be made eligible in the first half of 2015.
HomeAway CEO Brian Sharples said “We’re very excited to have Expedia as the cornerstone partner for a network that will enable vacation rental owners and managers to reach travelers who typically book accommodations on large online travel sites“.
“The demand for vacation rentals in today’s travel market is clear and we think it complements our existing business” added Expedia Lodging president Laurens Leurink. “We’re thrilled to continue our work with HomeAway. They are a great example of a partner that allows us to expand the breadth and depth of our offerings, giving Expedia travelers more choices and thus improving their overall experience.”
As yet there is no ‘Vacation Rentals’ tab on the Expedia site as a user search filter.
