Since its creation in 1996, Holiday-Rentals was acquired by HomeAway in 2005 alongside other European competitors including Owners-Direct, Abritel and Fewo-Direkt.

Despite a strong market position in the UK, HomeAway claim research found it did not to have a “strong brand name and holidaymakers had difficulty remembering it”.

UK HomeAway managing director Andy Cockburn says “HomeAway was a name that British holidaymakers found easier to remember and that they liked”. “This is the final step in the transition and will leave us with a clean brand that we can build up to become a household name in the UK”.
