1000s of searches everyday. Free unlimited listings. Up to 12 pictures per listings plus map and video. Seems to be more geared towards sales though.
Ads Globe –
Adsglobe is one of the most popular free classified websites, especially in the US. Vacation Holiday categories include: City Home, Farm House/Ranch, Boat/Yacht, Mountain Resort, Beach Resort, Golf Resort, Ski Resort, Lake Resort, Island Resort, Theme Park Resort, Tropical Resort. Curiously very few adverts for holiday rentals / vacation rentals.
BackPage – http://www.backpage.com/
Global listings site. Mainly focused on US but right hand columns display countries and cities from around the world (e.g. UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal and Turkey). In Europe there do not appear to be many adverts in Rentals > Holiday sections.

Huge in US where it was first launched in 1995 in the San Fransisco area. Now it is a global site and currently covers over 50 countries. You can post free ads holiday or vacation rental listings on Craigslist nearly anywhere worldwide! Gives users and visitors to transalate pages into english. Beware of scam replies which are rife, especialliy in the US.

Large and totally free market place for online ad posting in US. Small section for Australia and Pacific, Canada, Caribbean, India and UK. Real Estate > Vacation Homes – lots of adverts currently being posted.
Friday-Ad – http://www.friday-ad.co.uk/
Friday Ad is local advertising website (2.5m monthly visitors) and weekly paper magazine. (400,000 copies and over 1 million readers every week). Significant ‘Overseas Property To Rent’ section. Basic adverts free.
FreeAds – http://www.freeads.co.uk/
Currently hosting over 200 000 live adverts, attracting over 2 million visitors per monthnd over 50 local FreeAds sites for cities all around the UK. ‘Short Lets’ category not very obvious for holiday/vacation rentals.
Gum Tree –
Number 1 UK, Australia and South Africa free classified website. Especially popular in London, Gumtree spans 48 cities across the UK and Ireland. Apparently 34,000 new adverts each day and over 13 million visitors every month.
Le Bon Coin –
Hugely popular in France. No English section in case you do not speak French.
Oodle – http://www.oodle.com/
Largest aggregator of listings from sites like eBay, ForRent.com, Myspace, local newspapers and other sites. Good Vacation Rentals category of listings. No longer available outside of the United States.
OLX – http://www.olx.com/
OLX is used in over 96 countries in 40 languages. The company was founded in 2006 and is based in New York and Buenos Aires. It allows you to design rich ads and personalise them with pictures and videos, control your selling, buying, and community activity, display your ads on your social networking profile (e.g. Facebook) and access the site from your mobile phone.

Specifically for holiday rentals. Publish a free listing and manage your free availability calendar. Got Alexa rating however unclear as to how many visitors are holiday makers as opposed to owners/managers.
Viva Street – http://www.vivastreet.co.uk/
Vivastreet.co.uk is one of the top UK free classified websites which ranks second and is ninth largest classifieds site in the world. Over 1500 ‘Holiday Rentals’ listings at our last visit.
