TripAdvisor has announced the results of its fourth annual survey of more than 1300 US-based travellers about renting vacation/holiday homes. These are the main results.
Why choose a rental home over a hotel:
- Savings (82%)
- Last-minute deals (82%)
- Traveling with a large group (19%)
- More living space (15%)
- Booking a trip for one week or longer (11%)
Unique benefits of booking a rental home:
- Access to a full kitchen and/or laundry room (31%)
- More living space (27%)
- Feels like home (10%)
- More family-friendly (10%)
- Low prices (seven%)
Families:
- 65% had shared a rental home with family on past trips
- 62% choose to stay in a vacation rental property when they are traveling with family or a large group
- 89 % prefer to stay in a vacation rental
Ideal locations to try:
- Beachfront villa (53%)
- Mountain cabin (11%)
- City apartment (10%)
Most popular destinations (outside of the US):
